  • Wise Words

Our pastor (a wise and godly man) sent these words out to our congregation last night on our church e-mail list. I printed them out right away and put them on one of our kitchen cupboard doors so that our family could see them often and work on putting them into practice. I've been thinking about them off and on all day and thought I would share them with all of you.

"When I was a pastoral intern, I quickly realized that church life is not always very pretty. On one occassion, in the midst of an ugly situation, a wise man (now deceased) told me that before I accept Bobby's (not his real name) "factual" account of a situation, I should read Proverbs 18:17. He reminded me that before I share my opinion of others, I should read Matthew 7:1-5. He also exhorted me to read Deuteronomy 19:16-21 at least once a week. He said that if I ever found myself unsure how Matthew 18:15-17 applied to a situation, I should read 1 Peter 4:8. He was a wise man, a very wise man..."

May our words and actions bring glory to our Heavenly Father. And may we, as Christians, love one another deeply as He loves us.

  • Good advice.

  • These are indeed Prov 25:11 in timeliness.  I am affixing them to the front of a certain document.

  • I'm not sure I've ever encountered a "Matthew 18" situation that didn't leave me at least slightly unsure as to how to proceed.  Thanks for the words of wisdom!

  • Ahhh.  THat is very good advice!  (Thanks!)

  • We went over them at supper yesterday.

  • I have copied this quote and posted it in my personal reminders page -- so valuable to know where in God's Word to immediately go for advice (and reproof and encouragement...)  Blessings, Laurie

  • Great post Mom!

Those are wise words. Those are also good scripture parts.

I'm glad that there are still people who know who God is.

  • Thanks, Laura!

I guess you'd call this my second attempt to
learn New Testament Greek. I started a year or so ago, made it almost
to where I am now in the book, got bogged down, went back to review,
got busy, set it aside for awhile... You know how it goes. I recently
picked it up, backed up to chapter 6 and started again. I'm so glad I
did. This is something I've wanted to do for years, but the idea seemed
too daunting. A friend from church who teaches a at a university near
here recommended this book as a good one for someone studying on her
    own.

And now, I need to look up thes Bible verses!

  • I bought blue pants.  They go with a sweater I bought last year that is also jusy white and blue. I couldn't find anything for with it so I always wore my jean skirt.  I hope to find a skirt or maybe make one. I'll get much moe use outof them both if I do.

  • teehee thanks for the words of encouragement =D and don't worry, i wouldn't go during WCWC
