Parallel Parking
I took Cassie out to dinner the other night and came up with a question for all of you. What would you do if you hadn't parallel parked in 21 years and suddenly found yourself in a situation where you had to? Well, you might have a 3-second panic attack after which you would slowly back in to position (well, sort of) and then pull forward a little, and then back a little, and then forward a little, and then back a little and then discover that somehow your rear wheel was up on the curb and then look at your daughter and say, "There now, that ought to do it!" and get out of your vehicle and notice that there is a man across the street sitting on a park bench drinking a bottle of wine, blinking his eyes tight and shaking his head as if he is thinking, "She's had TOO much to drink!"
But then, I wouldn't know...

And that is why you practice your parallel parking often.
I suppose that is why I SHOULD practice my parallel parking often!
I wonder if Barney would have given me a ticket?
Hey, you think a car is rough?? Try it with a pony cart sometime.
Tell us how you make those bon bon things!
Oh mercy -- I used to have to parallel park a suburban. I would have my 12yo get out and direct me from the sidewalk. I am TERRIBLE at that!!
Too funny... great story -- HAHA!
My panic attack might last a little longer than that.
Hee hee. I'd be tempted to pull forward, look around, then peel out and go around the block to find some non-parallel parking spaces. Walking is good for the health, you know.
Ah, those lovely embarrassing moments in life.... I know them all too well....
Okay, it's been awhile since a Xanga post made me laugh aloud!
Oh yeah, I try to never parallel park. Never, ever!
I can sympathize. In fact, I over-sympathize! Try your little exercise with a vehicle that's 250 inches, bumper-to-bumper, and tall & wide enough that Hondas & Toyotas & the like disappear when you back to within three feet of them...
..I haven't driven my own vehicle to downtown Seattle in years.
That's the view I mght have if ti weren't for the trees. We can see Mt. Baker form all over Abbotsford. I get a beautiful when I take Claire to work.
Glad you're home safe and sound.
Speaking of which, I have a driving test in one week and need to learn to back into a spot. Hmm.
Have you hears anything about a movie called "Bella"? It's currently playing in theatres in the States. I'm wondering if it's playing in Bellingham. Everything I'm hearing is that it's a wonderful movie.
Thanks for letting me know. Now I just have to see if we want to tackle the border.
That is absolutely hysterical! You know what else one might do? Call one's husband, who is an EXPERT parallel-parker for his never-fail step-by-step directions. Not that I've ever done that...*whistle and look innocent*
