  • Visiting Cassie

I'm at school with Cassie for a few days visiting until Tuesday, when we will both head on home for the Thanksgiving Holiday. I arrived last night (Friday) and we have been having a great time together catching up. We had brunch this morning (Saturday) and then went to clear up a parking ticket that Campus Security had left on my van. Thankfully, it was no problem. We went to the music building next. There are at least a dozen practice rooms with beautiful pianos in each one. Cassie practiced in one room and I in another. After an hour, I was tired, so went to listen to her. Wow! I was amazed at how much she has accomplished since I last heard her play in August! Right now she is getting ready for Juries (the first movement of Beethoven's 25th Sonata, Opus 79 for that) and she is also working on Bach's concerto in D minor that she will be playing with an ensemble in February. Breathtaking! Next we went shopping from 1:30 until 7:00, by which time we were both famished so enjoyed a great meal at Thai Country. Now we are back at the dorm settling in for a quiet evening and looking forward to the Lord's Day tomorrow. On Monday and Tuesday, I will be able to sit in on several of her classes, one in which ten other music majors will be playing their Jury pieces. And then...home!!!

  • All that music! What a treat. Have a great time and see you next Sunday or will you bew taking Cassie back to college?

  • That sounds wonderful!  I'd love to hear you ladies play!

  • It will be nice to see Cassie next Sunday and nice for her that it's a fellowship meal.  It gives her a chance to say more than just Hi to everyone.

Do you still have the text of Isaac's Valedictorian speech around? I'd like a copy if you do to put in Claire's Grad album.

Have a fun couple of days and drive safely home.

  • Sounds like you're having a lot of fun. I wish I could have gone with you. Tell Cassie 'HI' for me. I can't wait to see you guys.

  • What a treat you're having.  Hearing about all that shopping makes me tired though!

  • I wish I could have been there to hear you guys practice. And I agree with Beeshug ... just THINKING about all that shopping makes me tired as well. That is one of your talents (the art of shopping) that I will never master.

  • Sounds wonderful! And the shopping? Well; better now than a week from now, eh?

  • Oh planning is going well. Try the site again :)

  • Oh how neat. I look forward to hearing my kiddos play and play beautifully. ;D

  • Both my son and his wife were music majors.  We made as many of their concerts as we could.  You're right, they are a treat.  Enjoy.  By the way, what year is your daughter in?  Their Senior pieces are wonderful!!!

  • Normally I would think sitting in on classes could be very boring, but it sounds like you are going to be getting quite a treat!

  • Have a great time, but it sounds like you already are!

  • it's great to have a fabulous church i think the CREC churches and all thier connections to each other are so cool!

  • Isn't it great to get them all home and under your roof?

  • We will have to go ahead and return it. I don't have time to read it right now. But I want to check it out again as soon as I can!

  • my oh my, thai food and beethoven sonatas. Sounds like a blast! I love beethoven sonatas. I'm glad Cassie is learning them and has improved so much! Yeah for you musicians! I'm glad you get to have that time with your daughter. What school is she going to? I don't think I have heard that piece... i'll try to find it and listen to it.
