  • Many Hands Make Light Work

The demolition of the sunroom hit full throttle this past weekend. Friday night Jim, Isaac, and Seth removed all of the glass panes (sixteen of them to be precise, each of them 3'x8').  It went amazingly well.

Friends began showing up at 8:00 a.m. Saturday morning to commence the tearing down.

Paul worked hard tearing down the sunroon closet, hauling and separating wood, and pulling nails.

Abby, Claire, Titus, and Minu pulled thousands of nails throughout the day. They just kept at it, only breaking for lunch.

We only had one "sliver incident". Jim has always been gifted at removing them painlessly and Minu was a brave patient.

A bird roosting. Oh! Wait! That's Seth taking a break on the roof!

Dad grilled all the hamburgers and hot dogs for the hungry crew. Mom worked hard in the kitchen getting lunch ready to set out.

We all enjoyed a nice lunch break in the shade. Here you see Joon, on the left. He and Minu live in Canada. Mike, in the middle, lives an hour and a half south of us. And Vic and Claire live in Canada as does Paul. All of our Canadian friends had an hour wait at the border that morning. We sure appreciated their coming! Even with Mike's hour and a half commute, he was here by 8:00 a.m. That's dedication!

Paul and Vic got back to work right after lunch, pulling more nails.

Good buddies, Minu and Titus, check out the progress from above. These two boys worked so hard all day. At the end of the day Titus was heard asking, "When can we have another work party?" That's the spirit, Titus!

Joon is a workhorse! He was a tremendous help, pulling hundreds of nails from the time he and Minu arrived, until they left. He only broke for lunch and then was back at it. Thanks Joon!

Push! Hard! Jason was determined to get the outer wall down and he did as you will see in the next two pictures.

    She's a going...

    She's gone!

Here is our sunroom at the end of Saturday. We were so happy with all the work that was accomplished.

A hearty thank you to Paul, Vic, Claire, Joon, Minu, Mike, Jason, Jack (Dad), and Donna (Mom)! We appreciated your help so very, very much!

  • Saturday went very well. I wish I could have been here for it. Maybe next time :) We sure had a lot of hard workers here

  • As I've said elsewhere; it was a great day, and the quality of the Fellowship made the time go quickly and was *more* than worth the effort involved!

  • Something tells me you have enough on your plate already. Sorry to have missed Saturday.  And I mised you Sunday too.

  • Wow!  So why are you demolishing your sunroom?    It looks like a fun "work party."

  • wut r u puttin in place of the old room

no its not actually gonna b that expensive, but i'm thinkin i'll look 4 somtin older for a 1st car

  • Wish I could have been there to help, looks like a lot of fun fellowship in the midst of work. I hope the work goes quickly. Get some rest!

  • What amazing friends have! Wish we lived closer and could come "work party" with you guys. Y'all do good work!

  • Good Post Mom!

That was one fun Saturday! I had a blast! I was so glad we could get so much done. I sure hope we can have another work party.

Great to have you post again!

  • I get up and brush my teeth because I get too involved with a movie and too nervous.  Doesn't have to be a dramtic tense movie either.  Could be somrthing all light and fluffy. When we go to a movie in the theatre I usually have a big bag of popcorn.  Without it I have no outlet for that tension and I get a terrible headache. But sometimes I still have to go wander around the lobby for a few minutes

I have a book list. I also have a book pile of things I find on the book table at camp(that you can't find anywhere else) and things I find at used bookstores and buy becaause I may never find them again. But alas, reading is one of those things I can only do in small doses, so I never make much headway.  One of the best things about being done with homeschool ing is that I don't have to deal with all those books anymore, If I read anything now, it's just for pleasure.

  • Wow, a lot of hard work.  What are you going to put in it's place?

  • Thanks so much, I really appreciate the prayer.

    -Matt

oh and thanks for sharing the pictures :) ..i was a little unsure of what was being torn down there though....did you re-do part of your house?

  • You aren't alone in your shame =) Augustine is one of my favorite guys to quote, and while I'm familier with his theology, I've never actually read any of his work.

I highly recommend this Warfield book though! It's specifically addressed to people who are studying to go into the ministry, but I think it is very applicable to the layperson as well! if you want, I could even mail you a copy. I would really like to buy several copies for some of my friends. let me know!

  • Thank you Mrs. U! I really will miss the conference! I wish I could come, but it just won't work out!
How are you and the family? I pray you are all well!
My hungry stomach is calling for nourishment!
    Talk to you soon!
In Him Alone and for His glory!

You are doing great becouse you had a great post. You always have good posts! Taking the glass out seemed easy.  It seems like it was years ago that we took them out.
